Fighter for the Cause

This article is about Lydia Guevara, daughter of Ernesto Guevara who is an active vegetarian. Ernesto Guevara was famous for supporting Fidel Castro's rise to power. Lydia is acting as a spokes woman for fellow vegetarians in South America. In her photo she demonstrates strength and focus. She has her fists clenched while wearing army pants and an army vest made out of baby carrots. I think it is good that people in other countries are active vegetarians and care about trying to get the importance of it across to other people. I think more people should voice their opinions about it and why it's important to them. I think the article could add more information about the trends of vegetarianism in South America.

Chef Brian

I interviewed my brother who is a chef and has been cooking for over 8 years. I interviewed him on his views about vegetarianism and the cuisine. My brother is a great cook. Even though he is not a vegetarian, I know he knows what he's talking about. He gives helpful advice on ways to make vegetarian cooking a lot easier.

Non-linear story

My non-linear story will consist of different aspects of vegetarianism that I have learned through interviewing different people familiar with the lifestyle. I talked to people who are not interested it, people who have been vegetarians for a long time and an actual chef who has real experience with vegetarian cooking.

Audio Story

I did my audio story on a few students and their opinions of being a vegetarian; not many people are as fond of the idea as I thought.

Feature Story

My feature story is a 'How to' for becoming a vegetarian. It involves three different sources of various ages who offer some advice and share their thoughts about being a vegetarian. My friend Lauren is my age and has been a vegetarian since the beginning of highschool. My boss is 30 and has been a vegetarian for over 3 years. One of my mom's co-workers has been a super-hero since like the 80's. Each of them offer advice from their own perspectives which is helpful to people of all ages.

Audio Story

I need to understand further what the soundbites entail. I think I might do an informative audio story on easy vegetarian dishes for the average college student and mediocre cook, like me. :)

3 hard news leads turned into broadcast style

1a) The Police Department ousted its top leadership yesterday in the Central District, a move that comes amid violent attacks in the downtown area and one day after The Baltimore Sun reported that officers had failed to properly handle the robbery of a nanny in Bolton Hill.

Maj. John Bailey, a 35-year veteran, and his second in command, Deputy Maj. Avon Mackell, a 21-year veteran, were stripped of their command positions after what sources described as a particularly heated exchange with department leadership after a woman was choked and robbed of an iPod while she walked with a baby Monday afternoon.

2a) Police have found the car belonging to a southern Maryland man who's accused of killing his wife, then telling police the couple had been carjacked.

3a) It's still probably too early to tell if the Orioles will be serious players in the Miguel Angel Sano sweepstakes, but they appear to be at least considering it. Sano, a 16-year-old shortstop who will be one of the most coveted international free agents when the signing period begins on July 2, was part of a group of 40 players the Orioles worked out on Friday at their Dominican Republic baseball academy.

3b) Orioles consider 16-year-old shortstop as a possible player.
